The ego is the result of acquiescence to the invasive demands of the Other to be what they want you to be, and the internalization of those demands and desires in the form of the superego and the infantile self-image. These remain frozen in time and cover over one’s real Self with an ongoing mental narrative of lack, guilt, shame, fear, anger, inferiority, a compensating superiority complex, and a narcissistic attitude that stunts further psychospiritual maturation. Liberation from that internal bondage requires recognition and realization of the true Self. This is the meaning of jivan mukti, the goal of Sat Yoga. It can be achieved very easily once one understands its urgency—through silencing the delusional mind.
